Quad and buggy in Vlorë: from the flamingo lagoon to the Vjosa river gorges

Dirt tracks through lagoons, canyons and medieval castles — the only way to see Vlorë's hinterland

Direct booking with local operators: no hidden fees, free cancellation up to 48h before.

Vlorë's sea is famous, but the hinterland is the surprise: dirt tracks skirting Narta Lagoon to the Zvërnec monastery, panoramic climbs to Kaninë castle above the city, and for the main course, the adventure along the Vjosa river — Europe's last great wild river, now a National Park.

Quad (ATV) tours last from 2-3 hours (lagoon and monastery, from €70) to half or full day (Vjosa, from €180-200). Two-seat buggies/UTVs are the most comfortable option for couples and families, including at sunset. You ride on easy-medium dirt tracks: a B driving licence is required to drive the quad, passengers from 6 years.

Possible almost all year (weather decides day by day), best between April and October. Groups are small and the guide leads the track: no 20-quad convoys like in mass-tourism resorts.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a licence?

Yes, a B (car) driving licence is required to drive the quad. No requirements for passengers, minimum age 6. Same rules for buggies.

Will we get dirty?

Depends on the season: lots of dust in summer, some mud in spring and autumn (which is half the fun). Bring clothes that can get dirty; goggles and bandanas are provided.

Is the lagoon tour suitable for beginners?

Yes, it's the perfect starter tour: 2-3 hours on easy dirt tracks with panoramic stops and the monastery. Before departure there's a 15-minute briefing and a practice lap.

What happens if it rains?

Light rain: we go anyway (and it's more fun). Real bad weather: the tour is rescheduled or refunded.
