The Karaburun-Sazan Marine Park is one of the least-dived seabeds in the Mediterranean: closed to traffic for decades (it was a military zone), today it offers posidonia meadows, gorgonian-covered walls and 15-30 m visibility. Vlorë dive centres depart from Radhimë and the Triport with boat trips to the Haxhi Ali and Cathedral caves and World War II wrecks.
The highlight is the PO wreck: a Royal Italian Navy hospital ship sunk in 1941 off Vlorë, 139 metres long, lying between 16 and 33 metres deep. Intact, covered in marine life, it tells a story almost nobody knows. For certified divers it is an unforgettable dive; at Dhërmi you can also see a MIG-21 sunk as an artificial reef.
Not certified? Try-scuba starts from €60 with a dedicated instructor, in the calm shallow waters of Radhimë. PADI Open Water courses are completed in 3-4 days: Vlorë is one of the cheapest places in Europe to get certified. Instructors speak English and Italian.

Frequently asked questions
Can I try scuba without a certification?
Yes: try-scuba is designed for absolute beginners, with a 1:1 dedicated instructor, maximum 6-8 metres deep. Total duration about 2.5 hours between theory and dive.
Do I need a certification for the PO wreck?
Yes, at least Open Water (Advanced is better, for the 33 m deck depth). With Open Water you can dive the upper part of the wreck with the guide.
How much is a 2-dive trip?
From €110 per person with equipment, boat and guide included. On international platforms the same trip costs $126-151.
When is the best season?
May-October, with water from 20 to 26°C. Some centres operate all year round with thicker wetsuits.
