Boat tours from Vlorë: Sazan, Karaburun and the marine park's secret bays

The unmissable Vlorë classic: Sazan island, Haxhi Ali Cave and Karaburun's beaches

Direct booking with local operators: no hidden fees, free cancellation up to 48h before.

The Sazan + Karaburun tour is Vlorë's n.1 excursion: in 5-6 hours you sail to Sazan island — a secret Soviet military base for 50 years, open to visitors only since 2015 and landable from June to November — enter Haxhi Ali Cave, Albania's largest sea cave, and swim in the white-pebble bays of the Karaburun peninsula, where the sea has Caribbean colours.

There are three ways to do it: the shared RIB or speedboat tour (12-15 seats, from €25), the large cruise boat with music and lunch on board (40-60 seats, from €20) and the private tour with skipper (from €250 per boat). Rhythm, crowds and number of stops differ: our pages give you the real differences, not the generic OTA descriptions.

All tours depart from Vlorë harbour between 09:00 and 14:00. In July-August the best spots sell out 3-5 days ahead: book in advance, especially if travelling in a group or wanting the small boat.

Frequently asked questions

Speedboat or cruise boat?

Speedboat if you want more swim stops (4-5) and fewer crowds; cruise boat if travelling with small children or seniors and want shade, an on-board toilet and included lunch. Price is similar (€20-35).

Do you really land on Sazan island?

Yes, from June to November, in St. Nicholas bay: about 1 hour to explore the abandoned military town and the beach. Out of season the island is only skirted by sea.

Is lunch included?

On the cruise boat yes (simple fish menu). On speedboats usually not: lunch is at a beach taverna in Shën Vasil (about €10-15, optional).

Do they run every day?

From May to October yes, weather permitting. In case of rough seas the tour is rescheduled or refunded.
