Legend has it Julius Caesar passed here with his legions, heading for his clash with Pompey. True or not, the path bearing his name is Vlorë's most beautiful easy hike: bay views, ancient olive groves and the Roman ruins of Orikum waiting at the end.
Direct booking with local operators: no hidden fees, free cancellation up to 48h before.
The route is a 4-hour traverse with moderate elevation: you climb from Vlorë's southern slope among the olives, walk the ridge with the bay always on your left, descend towards Orikum with a stop at the Byzantine church of Marmiroi, frescoed and almost never visited by tourists.
It's the hike we recommend to those wanting to move without too much effort: suitable for families with children from 10 years and anyone who can walk an hour without problems. On return, those who want can stop at Orikum beach for the afternoon swim.
Families, couples, Sunday walkers, Roman history lovers. Not for those seeking a physical challenge: that's the Çika peak.
Runs almost always: with rain the muddy trail discourages the outing and it's rescheduled.
Local tradition says yes and the geography adds up: Orikum was a strategic Roman port and Caesar did land in Albania in 48 BC. The final stop among the ruins makes it all credible.
If used to walking yes, but the group's pace is calibrated for 10+. Privately it adapts to any age.
